- Created a level playing field by cracking down on fraudulent business filings that harmed existing businesses
- Developed a balanced regulatory framework for Colorado’s new Privacy Act enabling responsible compliance and avoiding unnecessary burdens
- Created a data security toolkit to help small businesses safeguard against scams and cybercrime and comply with Colorado law
- Championed start ups and entrepreneurs through the work of new initiatives, like CU’s Silicon Flatirons Center, Startup Colorado, and the BEN entrepreneurs network, which I founded
- Supported skills and career development work of organizations breaking new ground, like CareerWise Colorado, where I was a founding board member
- Promoted rural economic revitalization by supporting job training and infrastructure investments in underserved communities
- Championed broadband expansion so small businesses can compete and grow, no matter their ZIP code
