My Commitment to Inclusive Leadership

As Colorado Attorney General, I know firsthand that our state is stronger when we work together to solve problems, regardless of party affiliation.

In my first term, we worked hard to listen to a range of views and win bipartisan support for our work. Every legislative agenda bill we pushed, for example, achieved bipartisan support. That included working together with sheriffs and police chiefs from around the state to work on responsible gun safety laws and safe gun storage. It also meant bringing together Democrats and Republicans to develop the opioid settlement framework that will invest the $500 million we recovered for Colorado communities. And it meant partnering with Republican state senators to protect water in our rural communities.

I’m honored to announce the support of prominent Independent, Republican, and conservative leaders from across our state in my re-election bid. You can read their thoughts here. To get a sense of their support, consider former Republican Assistant Minority Leader of the House of Representatives Cole Wist’s endorsement:  “Phil has a genuine passion for trying to find common ground with people who disagree with him. When it comes to civility and open dialogue, he walks the walk.” Or former Republican House Speaker Russ George, who said “[Phil] made it a priority to represent the whole state, not just the Front Range—regularly showing up on the Western Slope, listening to our concerns, working with our towns and cities, and always pushing so we have a seat at the table where decisions are made.”

For me, defending the rule of law and protecting all of the people of Colorado is my true north. We capture that work in two videos now available for viewing and sharing with others, one featuring rural law enforcement and another featuring local government officials supporting my work as Attorney General.

Sheriff Joe Pelle, Boulder County; Sheriff Justin Perry, Ouray County; and Sheriff Robert Jackson, Alamosa County

Commissioner Ben Tisdel, Ouray County and Commissioner Greg Felt, Chaffee County

As Attorney General, I am committed to bringing people together to defend the rule of law, protect consumers, address the opioid crisis, advance public safety, and protect our land, air, and water.
