The Strongest Early Fundraising Totals Ever for a Colorado Gubernatorial Candidate

Denver, CO – OCT 15, 2025 – Today, the Phil Weiser for Governor campaign announced it has raised $3.8 million by the end of the third quarter of 2025, marking the strongest early fundraising showing for any non-self-funding gubernatorial candidate in state history. Weiser also reported that he has nearly $3 million cash on hand.
With these numbers, Weiser (in just 3 quarters of fundraising) has set an all time record for total funds raised by a statewide candidate 5 quarters out from the general election. This record was previously held by former Governor John Hickenlooper who (with 11 quarters of fundraising) raised $1.2 million by October 2013 for his 2014 reelection for governor.
Weiser’s total puts him on a historic trajectory. With $3.8 million raised thus far in just 3 quarters, only former Governors Bill Ritter and John Hickenlooper raised more, taking an entire election cycle for state office to do so—bringing in $4.3 million in 2006, $3.9 million in 2010, and $5.4 million in 2014 respectively, over the entirety of their races.
“We’re building a campaign powered by Coloradans, fighting for Coloradans, and pushing forward a bold vision for Colorado’s future,” said Weiser. “Coloradans are ready for leadership that will fight for our democracy, protect our freedoms, take action to address our affordability challenges, and show up for local communities. This strong showing of support from Colorado means everything, and it’s just the beginning.”
The campaign also noted that 88% of donations this cycle were from Colorado, with thousands of Coloradans contributing in Q3 alone. This brings the total individual contributors to Weiser’s campaign to over 10,000. The funds raised will allow the campaign to continue scaling its statewide listening tour, grassroots organizing, and digital outreach heading into 2026.
Weiser launched his campaign in January 2025. Since then, he has earned endorsements from over 160 Colorado current and former elected officials, including Colorado trailblazers Federico Peña and former Governor Roy Romer, and from national elected leaders like Governor Josh Shapiro (D-PA), Governor Maura Healey (D-MA), Governor Josh Stein (D-NC), and Governor Bob Ferguson (D-WA).
