DENVER, CO – Yesterday, Colorado Attorney General Phil Weiser’s campaign for governor launched Billionaires, its latest TV ad. The 30-second spot sends a clear message to the out-of-state billionaires funding false and misleading attacks against Phil: Phil can’t be bullied. The ad – which appears across cable and broadcast TV and digital and streaming platforms – highlights Phil’s record of standing up to corporate landlords for illegally raising rents; Big Pharma for fueling the devastating opioid crisis; and the lawless, bullying Trump administration for harming Coloradans. Billionaires is part of a multi-million dollar ad campaign from Phil’s campaign.

Billionaires comes in response to the BS negative ads paid by Bennet’s Super PAC – which is bankrolled by out-of-state billionaires, dark money, and big corporations like Uber and Cigna (one of Colorado’s largest health insurance companies). Bennet’s out-of-state billionaire backers continue to mislead and lie to voters about Phil’s record as attorney general and attack his integrity. Phil’s campaign has called BS on those attacks time and again.

“Michael Bennet and the out-of-state billionaires, big corporations, and dark money groups bankrolling him are desperately trying to attack me for one simple reason: Our campaign’s momentum is surging,” said Phil Weiser. “We are powered by unprecedented grassroots support from across Colorado, and Michael Bennet knows his support is plummeting in the polls. The people of Colorado recognize the clear choice in this race: Michael Bennet is the candidate of Washington, and I’m the candidate of Colorado.”

Phil has never accepted money from a corporate PAC – and he never will. Phil believes in people-powered campaigns. That’s why, as governor, Phil will work to end Citizens United in Colorado.

Bennet, on the other hand, has accepted nearly $3 million from corporate PACs – including $1 million in 2016 alone – since he’s been in the Senate.

Billionaires script:

Here’s a message for the out-of-state billionaires funding attacks against me: I can’t be bullied.

I’m stopping corporate landlords from illegally raising rents, making drug companies pay nearly $1 billion for addiction treatment, holding irresponsible corporations accountable.

And I’m winning dozens of lawsuits against Donald Trump, protecting the rights of all Coloradans.

The billionaires and corporations backing Michael Bennet have an agenda for him.

My agenda? Fighting for you.
