Team Phil Fellowship Program

Why I’m Recruiting The Next Class of Team Phil Fellows

Young Coloradans have an enormous stake in this election. From affordability and education to reproductive freedom, climate change, and mental health, the decisions made by Colorado’s next governor will shape their lives for years to come.

When we launched our Team Phil Fellows program, our goal wasn’t to create a traditional internship where young folks watched from the sidelines. We wanted our fellows to become an integral part of our campaign, and that’s exactly what happened.

Our incredible cohort of fellows have staffed campaign events, organized volunteers, traveled, and worked directly with me and my campaign staff to build a true, people powered campaign.

As we head into the general election, we’re doubling down on the importance of the program. If you–or a young person you know–is interested in public service, campaigns, organizing, or simply wanting to learn how a statewide campaign operates, I hope you’ll apply. You don’t need previous campaign experience; what matters most is curiosity, a willingness to show up, and put in the work.

Fellow Testimonials From Summer 2026

Being a fellow on the Phil for Colorado campaign was my first venture into politics, and I couldn’t have imagined a more welcoming and meaningful experience. My biggest takeaway has been learning how to anticipate needs by working ahead and being a self-starter, which I know will be a major asset in whatever I choose to do in the future. I got to try out a variety of roles on the team, which helped me make connections across our team, and learn skills like editing videos, doing research projects, knocking doors, and even staffing Phil at events. – Jack

Serving as a fellow on Phil Weiser’s campaign has been a great experience. I’ve gained valuable skills and insight relating to what it means to work in politics. I’ve also learned valuable life skills: how to communicate effectively, how to organize events and how to manage larger projects. I’ve met wonderful people on this campaign, and the people have truly been the highlight of my experience. – Theo

I have absolutely loved being a Fellow on the Phil Weiser for Governor campaign. Our work has taught me so much about campaigning, state government, and my future career path. One of the highlights of this fellowship is being able to collaborate across Finance, Field, Digital to see how all the pieces fit together. I am so grateful for this opportunity and to my mentors for constantly leading with dedication, expertise, and compassion. – Talia

Being a fellow on Phil Weiser’s campaign has been a highly rewarding experience. I’ve had the opportunity to learn from communities across Colorado, work alongside incredible people, and build relationships with mentors and friends who have shaped my perspective. This experience has reinforced my commitment to pursuing a career where I can serve others and inspired me to continue finding ways to create meaningful change in my community. – Gaby

One moment that stood out the most was the day before the primary, when Phil personally met with his fellows. He spoke to us on the importance of knowing your community and meeting them face-to-face before he canvassed alongside all the fellows. The campaign has taught me how to deliver through grassroots organizing at the statewide level, and I could not be more thankful for the experience!” – Aya

Department Tracks & Sample Projects

Field/Political: Field and Political Fellows power the grassroots heart of the campaign. They recruit and support volunteers, organize canvasses and campus outreach, track voter contact, assist with community events, and build relationships with local leaders across Colorado. Fellows will gain hands-on experience mobilizing voters, strengthening local networks, and turning campaign strategy into action.

Communications: Communications Fellows will support the Communications Team by helping draft campaign materials and social copy, conduct research, monitor media, and assist with outreach. They may also help clip, edit, and publish digital content from campaign templates. This is a great role for strong writers and creative thinkers interested in learning how a campaign communicates its message across platforms.

Finance: Fellows will support the campaign’s fundraising efforts through event planning, donor outreach, and data management. They may help coordinate event logistics, communicate with hosts and co-hosts, track RSVPs and contributions, prepare event materials, maintain accurate donor records across campaign platforms, and assist with reporting and compliance. Fellows will gain hands-on experience with both the relationship-building and behind-the-scenes systems that drive campaign fundraising.
